Fruiting Bodies

Flowers of winter! Moss, lichen, fungus and mushroom. A whole lotta spores flyin' around!

Your macro shots are soooo amazing. I hate to be a gearhead, but what kind of camera do you use for those?

Hi Matt, I just got a Nikon D40, with a (let me see if I get this right)Nikkor 18-55mm lens(which is what the camera comes with). When I take the close ups, I put the image quality setting on normal or fine, and get as close as I can, about 6-8", and make sure the image/focus is sharp. Then I can crop for a closer picture. I do love getting in close to see the small things. I also have an old Fuji SLR with a close up "filter" that takes nice close ups too. I'm still learning how to use the new nikon. I'd love to get a new slr with autofocus, I still like film--but of course I need bucks(not the kind with horns ;0) Was that gearhead enough for ya?

Yup. That works. Glad to hear your camera choice. I just put in an order for basically the same lens.

HI Bitterroot! I do love to wander around to find the little things in the woods, and there are SO MANY! It's also hard to find a hiking partner who puts up with my meandering! Celeste
